Team Leader – Residential Childrens Home

Location: St Albans (AL1)
Salary: £33,529 per annum
Hourly Rate: £17.10 per hour
Sleep-In Rate: £70.50 per sleep-in
Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced and confident Team Leader to join a residential childcare home in St Albans.

This is a hands-on leadership role supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in delivering high-quality, child-centred care. The successful candidate will lead shifts, support staff practice, and help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and coordinate staff to ensure safe and consistent care
• Provide high-quality support to children and young people
• Act as a role model for safeguarding and professional practice
• Support care planning, behaviour management, and risk assessments
• Maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance
• Mentor and guide Residential Support Workers
• Promote positive outcomes for young people within the home

Requirements

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)
• Experience within a residential children’s home setting
• Strong safeguarding knowledge
• Confidence leading shifts and making sound decisions
• Full UK driving licence desirable
• Previous senior or leadership experience desirable

Working Pattern

• Variable rota across 7 days
• Evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins included
• No fixed shift pattern available
