Social Worker – Children’s Services

We are seeking experienced and passionate Social Workers to join Children’s Services supporting children, young people, and families through safeguarding, assessment, and long-term care planning.

This role involves working closely with families using relationship-based and motivational practice approaches to promote positive change, reduce risk, and improve outcomes for children and young people.

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload within frontline safeguarding and family support services while working collaboratively with partner agencies and multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a Children & Families caseload within safeguarding and assessment services
• Undertake strengths-based assessments and develop SMART care plans
• Complete Child in Need, Child Protection, and court-related work
• Conduct safeguarding investigations and risk assessments
• Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and partner agencies
• Promote relationship-based and motivational practice approaches
• Support permanency planning and positive outcomes for children in care
• Maintain accurate case records, reports, and documentation
• Attend multi-agency meetings, core groups, and court proceedings where required
• Promote the voice, wishes, and feelings of children and young people throughout practice

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration
• Substantial experience working with children and families within a UK statutory setting
• Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge
• Experience undertaking assessments and direct work with children and families
• Knowledge of UK childcare legislation and Working Together guidance
• Strong communication, assessment, and partnership working skills
• Ability to work effectively within complex and challenging situations
• Enhanced DBS required
• Ability to travel across the county where required
