Qualified Social Worker – Duty & Assessment Team

Location: Halton
Pay Rate: £39.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join a Duty & Assessment Team within Children’s Services in Halton.

This is an excellent opportunity for a social worker with strong frontline experience looking to work within a supportive and fast-paced environment focused on safeguarding and positive outcomes for children and families.

Please note: Candidates must live within 45 minutes of Halton.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments for children and families
• Manage a varied caseload within Duty & Assessment
• Respond promptly to referrals and assess risk and need
• Undertake home visits and build positive relationships with families
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals
• Produce high-quality assessments and court reports
• Ensure timely and effective safeguarding interventions are implemented
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker (Degree or Diploma in Social Work)
• Registered with Social Work England
• Minimum 3 years permanent experience
• Previous experience within a Duty & Assessment or frontline Children’s Services team
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation
• Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Access to a car for work purposes
