Service: Children’s Assessment & Safeguarding Team (CAST)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join a Children’s Assessment & Safeguarding Team in Basingstoke.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-structured and supportive frontline safeguarding service with strong management support, regular supervision, and access to internal CPD opportunities.

Each CAST team consists of:

  • 7 Qualified Social Workers
  • 1 Assistant Team Manager
  • 1 Team Manager
  • 2 Children & Families Support Workers

The service also provides strong administrative support, with dedicated support staff assisting social workers with day-to-day case management and organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake assessments of risk, safeguarding, and social care needs
  • Manage a caseload of children and families within statutory frameworks
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals and partner services
  • Undertake joint assessments and referrals where appropriate
  • Develop, review, and monitor care and support plans
  • Take appropriate safeguarding action to protect vulnerable children and families
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports
  • Prepare professional reports to support decision-making and case management
  • Promote positive outcomes for children and families

Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
  • Registered Social Worker
  • Experience working with children and families within a social work setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation
  • Experience completing assessments and report writing
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and caseloads effectively
  • Ability to fulfil transport requirements of the role
