Deputy Manager Childrens Home

Location: East London
Salary: £36,628 per annum
Sleep-In Rate: £70.50 per sleep-in

We are seeking an experienced and committed Deputy Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day management of a children’s residential home.

This role involves supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care, ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for young people.

The successful candidate will deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager and play a key role in supporting staff development, safeguarding, care planning, and operational management.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with the daily running of the home
• Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager
• Ensure the home operates in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
• Support and supervise residential staff teams
• Assist with recruitment, induction, training, rotas, and staff development
• Promote safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
• Support care planning, placement planning, and reviews for young people
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and administrative systems
• Support young people with their emotional wellbeing, education, health, and development
• Work alongside external agencies, local authorities, and stakeholders
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, homely, and positive residential environment

Requirements

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Children & Young People’s Services (or willingness to work towards)
• Minimum 2 years’ residential childcare experience within the last 5 years
• Minimum 1 year supervising or managing staff
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes legislation
• Experience supporting children with autism, learning difficulties, and behaviours that challenge
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays if required
