Children’s Home Manager – Residential Children’s Service

Service: Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Children’s Home Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day management of a residential children’s home supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

This role involves supporting the Registered Manager to ensure high standards of safeguarding, care, and compliance in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards.

The successful candidate will lead Residential Support Workers, promote positive outcomes for children and young people, and help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home
• Lead and supervise Residential Support Workers on shift
• Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted standards
• Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and incidents
• Maintain accurate records and quality assure documentation
• Support children to attend appointments, reviews, and activities
• Complete incident reports and escalate concerns where required
• Promote equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice
• Support staff supervision, practice development, and training
• Ensure a safe, structured, and positive living environment for children and young people

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children & Young People or equivalent
• Experience working within a residential childcare setting
• Experience leading staff teams within a residential environment
• Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted requirements
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of child development
• Good communication, leadership, and organisational skills
• Ability to work flexibly and travel where required
• Experience using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
