Assistant Team Manager – Child Protection

Location: Dorchester, Dorset

Pay Rate: Up to £45.00 per hour (Umbrella)

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Team Manager to join a Child Protection and Permanence Team supporting children in care and helping achieve long-term stability and positive outcomes.

This role is ideal for a qualified social worker with strong leadership experience who is passionate about supporting children, mentoring staff, and overseeing high-quality social care practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Team Manager with the leadership and management of the team
• Supervise and appraise Social Workers and Family Workers
• Provide oversight and guidance on complex casework and care planning
• Chair meetings and contribute to key decision-making processes
• Support practice development and mentor team members
• Promote positive outcomes and permanence planning for children in care
• Work collaboratively with fostering services, health teams, schools, and partner agencies
• Maintain strong professional relationships with children, families, and external professionals

Requirements

• SWE Registered
• Relevant Social Work Degree
• Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience within the UK
• Experience within Children’s Social Care / Child Protection
• Strong supervision and leadership experience
• Enhanced DBS (can be obtained)
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Eligibility to work in the UK
